2. Catching and Training Chocobos
Everybody’s favorite yellow birds are back in FFX-2 with the Chocobo Ranch! The Chocobo Ranch gives you the opportunity to train chocobos and sent them out across Spira in search of loot. In order to get access to the ranch, however, there are a couple of missions you must complete.
How to Get the Ranch
There are a couple of different ways to get the Chocobo Ranch. The first one is the way that will get you the most % complete in the game. Be warned, however, that if you fail to speak to Clasko during Chapter 1 or 2, there is NO WAY that you can get the Chocobo Ranch (and thereby 100% complete) this game.
The First
At the start of the “Foggy Fiend Frenzy” mission on the Mushroom Rock Road speak to Clasko. Make sure you speak with him after the scene (where he is told to show you the way). After you complete the mission, go back to where you started and speak to Clasko again. When he asks if he can come with you, say yes.
Next, when you get to Chapter 2, go to the Mi’ihen Highroad and complete the “Cuckoo for Chocobos” mission. Make sure to get a chocobo for Calli for 100% complete. After you defeat the boss, speak to both Calli and Clasko and invite them both onto the Celsius.
Lastly, go to the Calm Lands (in Ch 2, 3, or 5) and complete the “Clean Sweep” mission for Clasko in the ranch (on the East wall). This will give you access to the ranch along with the Alchemist Dress Sphere.
The Second
If you forgot to complete the “Foggy Fiend Frenzy” mission on the Mushroom Rock Road or if you forgot to invite Clasko onboard afterwards, there’s still hope. Find Clasko on the Mushroom Rock Road (near the path down into the Den of Woe) and speak to him. He’ll leave you. He’ll be waiting in the Calm Lands for you in Chapter 3. Complete the “Clean Sweep” mission and the Chocobo Ranch is yours to enjoy.
The Third
Simply make sure you invite Clasko onto the Celsius sometime in Chapter 1 or 2. This is the simplest way, but yields the least % complete. Doing this will ensure he is in the Calm Lands in Chapter 3 for you to complete the “Clean Sweep” mission to gain full access to the Chocobo Ranch.
