Gunner's Gauntlet
There are two installments of the Gunner’s Gauntlet: one led by Beclem on the path from Besaid Village to the beach, the other inside the Besaid Temple Cloister of Trials. The Gunner’s Gauntlet is a random mini-game that allows you to grab a few good items or simply have fun shooting stuff.
The Reward
The best thing that can be gained from this mini-game is the accessory Adamantite, which gives HP +100%, Defense +120, Magic +120, Agility -30, and Auto-Wall. To do this, you need to get a score of over 2800 on Beclem’s version of the Gunner’s Gauntlet.
Note: This is one of the best items you can get other than the Iron Duke.
How to Beat 2800
I’ll leave the “How to Play” guide to the game itself. The best trick to beating the Gauntlet (or at least getting 2800+ points) is finding the right spot to camp.
There’s a spot in the shadow of the last waterfall where the fiends won’t come and attack you.
You can just sit in this hole and pick off the bad guys. Through this technique, you’re able build and keep a good chain, which is the key to this mini-game.
But beware these two mistakes - you need to be able to go and grab your ammo refills and you need to leave yourself enough time to get to the beach. I advise you save a Death Shot for the fiend at the end to save yourself time. Remember that once you’re running for the exit, it doesn’t matter if you’re hit and your chain is broken, just so long and you end with at least 1 HP. With this strategy I was able to obtain the Adamantite rather quickly.
The Other Gauntlet
The other version of the gauntlet inside the Besaid Temple is a bit different, and yields no good rewards. Good luck if you want to try it for fun, though!
